Projects
The next generation systems of Nextronex® are making their way into design planning and into the field with several installations underway. Our current installed base is now over 3 MW.
Look for updates on additional sites and energy savings as our unique design makes continued inroads in the development of more energy efficient – and more profitable – solar energy installations.
180th OANG site, Toledo Ohio

The "beta" site for Nextronex; the initial 399 kW installation was completed in May 2010, utilizing First Solar FS 275 panels, with three inverters, power strips, zone boxes, smart controller and one load center. The project was expanded in April 2011, adding an additional 250 kW, bringing this array total to 649 kW. The nature of the expansion highlights a feature of the Nextronex distributed architecture – expandability.
After the additional rows were installed, the power strip was lengthened with additional zone boxes, and two new inverters were installed, with a new load center for the new inverters. The control software was updated to recognize the new inverters and additional current sensors, and the system was simply restarted. The customer has room for an additional 250 kW, which will require only one more inverter, as there is approximately 100 kW of capacity remaining in the five inverters that are installed. The second load center has additional capacity to accept the output of additional inverters.
JJM Farms, Roswell New Mexico

This installation was completed in September 2010, and is a 100 kW, 600 V system utilizing polycrystalline panels. A single Nextronex inverter and matching coupling transformer were "tucked" under one of the rows, making a compact, clean installation. In this project, there was a unique requirement for a corner ground delta connection on the 480 V output, which was accommodated by the custom-wound Nextronex transformer.
Pilkington Development Center, Toledo Ohio

Pilkington Glass has a large "brownfield" landfill on their East Toledo property, a legacy of many years of plate-glass manufacturing. It's an ideal site for a solar installation, ultimately with room for 2 to 3 MW of solar. The initial phase is a 250 kW installation utilizing First Solar FS272 panels and a two-inverter system that is expandable for future expansion. This project was completed in April 2011.
Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo Ohio

A 100 kW roof mount system utilizing First Solar panels in a 600 V configuration, completed in May 2011. The Nextronex Low profile inverter was selected to insure that it would not detract from the aesthetics of this historic building. The installer chose to place the coupling transformer in the basement of the building, close to the interconnect point, demonstrating the flexibility of the Nextronex technology.
Camp Perry, Port Clinton, Ohio
The Nextronex® Installation at Camp Perry in Port Clinton, Ohio, is a 639 kW system utilizing NanoSolar CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium Selenium) panels – their first large-scale installation in the U.S. There are four Nextronex Ray-MaxTM inverters operating at a 1000V DC voltage, all feeding a 4-pole 600 kVA Nextronex Load Center outputting the power to the utility grid at 12.5 kV. With this installation, Nextronex® inverters have been connected to all three types of commercial Solar Panels: Silicon, Cad Telluride, and now CIGS.
